Will of Ralph Owen
May 1810
I Ralph Owens of Rowan County being weak of body; but of perfect mind
and memory do make and order this as my last will and Testament revoking
all other wills whatsoever. My will is that my just Debt be paid
Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Nancy Owens all
the property that I may be possesion of at my death except such legacies
(?) as may be here after mentioned to her during her life
Item I give unto my beloved Daughter Elizabeth Smith her heirs and
assigns one Negroe girl named Mary and one Bed and furniture
Item I give unto my beloved Daughter Nancy Owens her heirs and
assigns one Negroe girl named Sue (?) and one Bed and furniture
Item I give unto my beloved son Armstiaa (?) Owen his heirs and assigns
one Negroe girl named Charlotte and one bed and furniture of equal value
with that given to my two Daughters. I also give to my son Armitiaa
Owen after the death My beloved wife Nancy one Negroe woman named T---
and her increase to him and his heirs and assigns. I also give to
my son Armetiaa after the Death of his Mother the plantation and Tract
of Land that I now live on to him his heirs and assigns forever
My will is that after the Death of My beloved Wife that the whole of
the property that may remain after her Death except such legacies as has
been all ready mentioned shall be equally divided between my Children Elizabeth
Smith Nancy Owen & Armstiaa Owen to them their heirs and assigns forever.
I do hereby constitute nominate and appoint my beloved wife and My trusty
friend Abraham Pikongen (?) and Carpin Smith Executors to this my last
will & Testament, and I do hereby --- this and this only as my last
will signed and --- to in the presence of March 19th 1810
