The remaining children of Gilbert and Nancy were now at the
age when they were beginning to start their own separate family lives.
Edward Doolittle Crotser married Berthha Bolt and had 4 children, Irene,
Pauline, Edna, and Eugene. George married Lottie Morgan in 1915, and together
they raised Lottie’s daughter, Mayva. George died June 30, 1957 and is
buried at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, Illinois.
Fredrick Gilbert, my great-grandfather, married Josephine Carter
on May 15, 1912 in Vandalia. She was the daughter of Charles Thomas Carter
and Mary Jane McKinney Carter. Josie was born March 26, 1895.
Nancy Charlotta, also known as Nannie L., married Charles Jackson
on February 22, 1892 in Fayette County. In the interview done with Julia
Crotser McVey in 1996 by myself, Julia stated that Nancy never liked her
name and always went by Nannie L. Nannie and Charlie had no children. The
couple lived in Niantic and then later in Decatur. They are buried at Long
Point Cemetery at Long Point Church in the Niantic area.

near Brownstown, Illinois.
Julia Ann married Carroll P. “George” McVey on December 19, 1925
in St. Charles, Missouri. they resided in Vandalia for awhile and then
also moved to Decatur. Carroll was a minister of the Church of God in Lovington,
Decatur, and Blue Mound. He died January 28, 1995 and is buried at Berea
Cemetery next to the Christian Church in rural Decatur. This church and
cemetery are close to that of Long Point where Nannie is buried.
This will end my account of the Crotser history in order that
the privacy of those still living will be preserved. Four additional generations
have followed the one on which I ended. I will, hopefully, be able to continue
and incorporate more facts into this story as my research goes on.
Congratulations you have reached the end!
